Pre-Construction Termite Barriers
Specifying your home's preconstruction termite barrier is one of the most important decisions you will make when building your new home. The purpose of a termite management system is to deter hidden termite entry and reduce the risk of termite attack. Island Environmental works with the area’s largest builders to provide high-quality pre-construction treatments throughout South Florida. Our licensed professionals have an in-depth understanding of the new requirements of the Florida Building Code as well as builders’ unique needs.
Protecting homes from termite damage is serious business.
One of the difficulties of pre-construction treatments is that the timing must be coordinated with the builder. Island Environmental works closely with contractors and builders to effectively perform pre-construction termite treatments. This close working relationship ensures a complete treatment with long term protection.

Liquid Pre-Treatments
This method involves the application of a termiticide to the soil under the slab, garage floor and around the outside walls. The treated soil is a deterrent to termites.
Pretreatments are generally a two-step process. The soil under the foundation is treated prior to pouring the foundation. While this is usually done in one application it can take multiple trips for large foundations that are poured separately. The second step involves the final grade treatment. This service is done after the structure is completed. Final grade treatments involve establishing a continuous barrier around the outside of the foundation.
Borate Wood Pre-Treatments
During the dried-in phase of construction, our pest control technicians will apply Bora-Care directly to the wood, concrete and foundation penetrations in one fast, easy, spray application - and you’re done. Termites can’t consume the wood and they can’t tube over it.
